Lahore – Ready to Shine on the Face of the Globe

It has been a slogan of all political parties that they would make Lahore into a Paris or a London if they are brought into power by the Lahorites. This dream however is now coming true as the Lahore Development Authority has taken up huge projects in the city and is hell bent on making it one of the top international cities of the world. Lahore is fast evolving into becoming the business centre of the country. The construction projects of Lahore have made the eyes of investors across the country and even abroad on the city.

Ring road has been made on the outlines of the mega city that has helped the transporters as well as the investors who do not have to spend so much now on the fuel as previously heavy transport had to move into the city. It has also helped in traffic management of this second largest city of Pakistan. Another good that this project has done to the city is that it has further boosted Lahore Real Estate because the property prices of the areas close to Ring road, Lahore have increased manifolds.

The completion of Saggian interchange, Kalma Chowk overhead bridge and Muslim town overhead bridge in record time has lives easier for the public as well as the traffic controllers. According to a report, average 427,000 vehicles daily pass Ferozepur Road that is the main business highway of the city. The fuel losses on the three stops Muslim Town Chowk, Ichra and Canal Bridge was around 2.1 billion a year while the Muslim town overhead bridge was completed only in Rs. 2 billion which will save billions for the next 80 years for the nation.

Yet another huge project is of Rapid Transit System that is being launched with the cooperation of the friendly country of Turkey. This mass transit system will begin from Shahdrah Town that is the Southern end of the city and will end up in Chungi Amr Sidhu that is the Northern end of the city. This facility will further boost the economic activities in the city and will also be a huge benefit for the passengers. It is an addition to the government’s policy of providing people with respectable and cheap transport facilities.

The BRB Canal that flows through Lahore is the most attractive part of the city, but unfortunately, previously there were no side-grills on its sides and that caused a number of accidents, so the government has erected it now and that has completely eradicated the problem. A number of buses that have been imported from China have made the public transport system a respectable way of traveling for the passengers.

The Lahore has completely turned on its head within a span of only three or four years and the long-sighted dream of Lahorites to live in Lahore and enjoy the flavor of Paris is finally becoming a reality. The blend of rich heritage and culture, thriving business and economy and the international standard lifestyle make the famous Lahorites’ slogan look more realistic that, ”Lahore Lahore aey” (Lahore is Lahore).
